Owners, the late Louis Johnson and his wife Anne Johnson started El-Jay Manufacturing in Eugene in 1932, designing and building rock crushers.  Having sold their rock crushing business and along with their project manager, Douglas Moorhead, decided to build the finest 55 and over community in the Northwest.

The Johnson's and Moorhead's traveled the Northwest looking at manufactured home communities, they found several nice communities but none of them were what they had envisioned.  They wanted their community to resemble a residential neighborhood with the finest construction available in the industry.  Their homes were set-up on solid foundations with double and triple car garages, vinyl fencing, generous size lots with impeccable landscaping.  Each lot in their community has individual street addresses eliminating the need for space numbers.  An 8000 sq ft clubhouse was completed in 1999 for residents to enjoy.  Every resident has a key to the clubhouse and can use it anytime, day or night.  The homeowners may also reserve it for FREE for their own special private parties and events! 

Our History... In the spring of 1994, construction began on the corner of Northwest Expressway and Irving Road in northwest Eugene, Oregon.  Gainsborough is a fully gated, exclusive, private community that consists of 73 beautifully designed manufactured homes.
